CelebPoker Package Winner Achieves Ambition
CelebPoker Package Winner UK CelebPoker player Matthew Tranter took the next step in his poker career by winning a package to the Irish Winter Festival that took place from October 29th 31st, 2011. As a loyal player of CelebPoker, Matt will be aiming for more package wins in our online satellites for land based poker tournaments. We caught up with himto find out a bit more. What do you do (occupation, studies, hobbies etc?)I have been making a living by playing poker for the last couple of years. Prior to this I studied software development. I greatly enjoy skiing, socializing, reading and a wide variety of music; primarily drum & bass and dubstep which I find very helpful as a driving force during long poker sessions. How long have you been playing poker and how did you start?I have been playing poker for 5 years. Poker first caught my attention when some of the better players started to move over from the real time strategy game “Starcraft” that I was playing competitively at the time, they all showed great results and this opened my mind to the advantage of investing my time and dedication into a more profitable venture. Televised poker also added to the appeal to get involved in this exciting game; seeing the pros at the time playing high stakes tournaments for millions of dollars helped fuel my desire to learn and hopefully one day compete with and defeat these great players. Did you use any special strategy to win the tournament?I vary my play style based on the players on my tables at the time. On some tables it is advantageous to play tight (only the best hands) and some loose (many hands), however either way I will try to play those hands aggressively making my opponents make tough decisions whilst giving me information about the strength of their hands. In this tournament I was able to play a loose aggressive style (this means i was playing a lot of hands whilst betting/raising/re-raising rather than calling) and had a very large stack going into the final table.A tight player will make it into the money positions in a tournament more than a loose player, however a loose player will go on the win much bigger prizes more often when they do make the money. Any key moments you remember from tournament? The final table is the most important part of the tournament, with the pay increasing steeply with each extra position gained; here outplaying the other players really matters.I was lucky to have a 2 – 1 chip lead on 2nd place going in to the FT and couldn’t really ask for a better start. The other players were all playing tight against me; trying to avoid me at all costs unless they had a monster hand. This is always a good thing as with nobody trying to contest pots with me I was effectively being given permission to constantly steal chips from the other players allowing me to extend my chip lead significantly… a lot of the pots i won on the FT could have gone to the other player had they tried to play back at me. What do you plan to do with the prize money?I plan to use a lot of the prize money to work my way into a number of large live events. I will be playing the Irish Winter Festival tournament in October and hope that this will be the first of many over the next couple of years. It has been an ambition of mine to expand in to the live poker scene for quite some time now and huge prizes are ready for the taking.I will also re-invest a lot of the money on the Celeb Poker cash/tournament tables in order to continue progressing up through the stakes striving to improve by playing better players and to earn bigger pay days. Advice to other players? You might have to play countless tournaments in order to take a big finish or it could happen on your first one. The important thing is to not let this high level variance affect your play, if you’re not happy with your results so far it does not necessarily mean you’re a bad player as luck is certainly a large factor in poker. Keep a clear head, always be trying to improve your game (there are many resources out there for an aspiring poker player to learn from), put in the hands and the results will follow.

GI Joe Assaults Online Poker, Refrigerated Beer, Noobs
published on 03/18/11 at 7:09 am Angel Valdez is working towards the American dream. By waking up at noon, cracking opening a PBR, and giving online poker a shot full-time. We talk to the recently unemployed McDonalds cashier, now full time poker player and owner of the Online Poker Team (OPT) to see what he is all about. Special interviewer, Street3, makes an appearance to ask a few of his own questions. What is the background on your twitter name, GI Joe Valdez? Big into kids and toys? Was Snake Eyes the coolest Joe? Why not the nickname, El Burro?I was in the Army for 8 years and was pretty crazy. One time one of the older guys said slow your roll gijoe and take it easy and it stuck since then some called me gijoe. After I got out of the Army I created an email with that name. Nothing glorious about it but it has stuck. Now most people that dont know my real name call me Joe. Why did you start the OPT?Other players and I used to be a part of another online poker team but they were jerks when it came time to play. If you lost they were all over you, and put a lot of pressure for you to finish out your allotment. Talked to a couple of other unhappy players and they suggested I start my own. I did and took it from there. I made it a lot of fun to be a part of this team with zero drama and been very lucky so far. Has this endeavor been profitable? The OPT: Yes, when we first started The OPT share were sold at $5 each. Now they are close to $6, and when we started I begged players to join we now have a waiting list and its not as easy to get in.Full time poker pro: Im on day 3 and if I continue min cashing in this fashion I will be broke sooner then 2 weeks. What are your plans if you do not find a job when your bankroll runs out next week?I been lucky to have made a lot of final tables in my online poker career so I paid close attention to all the rail beggars. Noted all their sappy questions and how they get players to ship them money. Its better then standing by the freeway with a sign. I can beg from home. Just open up a final table and go to work. If you were a pro who would you like to sponsor you? Some whale that doesnt care if they lose money. Mike Matusow is probably the biggest candidate. Ive seen him stake some really bad players in the Main event so I figured I cant do any worse. What is the square root of 9?There is a square in 9? Had to Google that. 3 it says. What is your favorite poker game? Cash/tourney? The most you have ever won and lost?Favorite game are Super Turbos MTT, 2nd favorite are Rush games, 3rd are deepstack/double stack MTTs. I dont play cash games at all, but when I have Ive done pretty well. The most I have won in an MTT has been $3300 on Pokerstars, and $2200 several times on Fulltilt. The most Ive lost in an MTT online was $110 and in cash game $77 I think. Live game I spent $125 to play a sat which I won. That gave me $1100 to play a wsopc event. I didnt cash so that sucked. Im a bankroll nit so Noob Was it a good or bad decision, on my part, to allow Street3 into this interview? Explain this. Its always good to let Street3 into any conversation with you. He will make you look good. You could be picking your nose live on TV and no one will notice anything but his big forehead. See attached pic space is available for advertisement on his forehead so he says Check/Call or Bet/Fold? Why?Both.Check/call: when using pot control. If you have top pair and weak kicker or fear other player flopped bigger hand.Bet/fold: is what I use when in agro mode and I use it vs any number of opponents. You get so much information by throwing out a bet. At best they all fold or 1 calls the rest fold, and at worse case scenario they all fold and 1 re-raises you, or they all call. What piece of advice would you give a first time online poker player?Dont get started. QUIT! Turn around and go play checkers. But if he really doesnt like that advice I suggest getting some proper training or a solid coach, read up on the game, have a nice bankroll to back you up, set your priorities, and stick to a routine. Ive seen a lot of players go on tilt in poker but it doesnt stop there. Usually that carries across there other parts of their life and they crash and burn. There are a lot of stories on the news about gamblers robbing some casino, held up another player, or held up a bank or convenience store. If you arent patient in life you will definitely not succeed in poker. While this game skill has 70% of chance the other 30% is lady lucks doing and shes a cold hart bitch. If you arent ready for the losses or cant handle it then dont get started. This game is filled with skilled and solid players, and it takes time for a noob to get there. This game can be a lot of fun just dont let it get you down. Related posts: Online Poker Player Plays His Cards Close To The Vest Black Friday Saves One Players Money & Relationship

PokerNews Jet Set: Bahamas
December 14 2011, Lynn Gilmartin Related Articles PokerNews Jet Set: Prague PokerNews Jet Set: San Remo, Italy PokerNews Jet Set: London Share It Tags Print The Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas is where the poker worlds focus will be in January. PokerStars is once again hosting its annual Caribbean Adventure in Paradise. I was lucky enough to make my first trip to the Caribbean with PokerNews two years ago for the PCA, and let me tell you, there is no way you could get bored at Atlantis, but you could most definitely go broke with so much to do, see, and eat! Only 60 miles off the coast of South Florida, stretching as far as Cuba, the Bahamas comprises more than 700 islands, one of which is Paradise Island, the exclusive home to Atlantis. The Vitals Language: English Currency: USD is widely accepted with the local currency, Bahamian Dollar, fixed to the USD for an equivalent exchange rate. BSD $1 = USD $1 Tipping: Similar to the U.S. where gratuity is automatically added to some bills. If not, then 15 to 20 percent is expected. Weather: This may be the coldest time of year but dont let that deter you the daily average temperature is a perfect 75F. Legal Age: Hello to all 18 year olds youre legal in the Bahamas! Getting There and Around Nassau International Airport (NAS) is a 30-minute taxi ride from Atlantis, costing roughly $30. Atlantis is situated on Paradise Island, connected by bridge to the central Bahamian island of New Providence. Metered taxis are located outside all hotels and can also be hired (cheaply) by the hour if you want a personal tour guide. Water taxis operate frequently between Nassau and Paradise Island, and buses run from the hotels to downtown Nassau several times a day. My first choice would always be to stay at the host venue, but if the cost of accommodation is on your own coin, then be prepared to spend big if you want to stay at Atlantis. Even within the resort, there is a large range of accommodation offerings to suit various budgets, but even the cheap options arent that cheap! Another point to keep in mind is that just because youre staying at the host venue doesnt mean youre not in for a hike to the poker room. This place is seriously massive. If you do want to splurge on accommodation, then the high-rise Royal Towers is where you want to stay. Another step up is The Cove. It has the most modern and luxurious suites in the Caribbean, including one of the most stunning day spas Ive ever seen, and a funky, private adults-only pool to escape the family-vibe around the rest of the resort. The Coral Towers and Beach Tower rooms are quite basic, but theyre located in the heart of the fun and activities, and, most importantly, close to the Imperial Ballroom, which will be converted into the PCA tournament area in January. Earlier this year, PokerNews’, Kristy Arnett, Gloria Balding and Sarah Grant took us on a quick video tour around Atlantis. The ladies even started a little prop bet that will probably continue in 2012, since no one won it this year. Despite Atlantis being an entire island of its own, it really isnt too far from surrounding accommodation if youd rather be kind to your budget, and taxi travel is quite cheap. Check out PokerNews Hotels for the other suggested places to stay in Nassau, as well as the above-mentioned hotels within Atlantis. Things to Do When youre in Bahamas during PCA, pretty much everything to do is within Atlantis. Its hard to comprehend the sheer size of this place until you actually see it for yourself. If you havent already done so, head over to the PokerStars website to check out the tournament schedule and ensure that you allocate at least one day off to put your feet up at a poolside lounge with a Bahama Mama in hand. It would be criminal not to. The most extravagant feature of Atlantis, is the $15 million marina (pictured above) that rivals the legendary Marina of Monte Carlo. The yachts that Ive witnessed on this marina simply blew my mind. This was my favorite area to go, when I was able to escape the madness of the poker room. Walking along the yacht and shop-lined Marina Village is a welcomed break from the PCA grind. When deciding where to eat, making the choice can be daunting. There are over 40 restaurants, (yes, 40!), with choices ranging from quick and easy snacks, to the most exclusive fine dining in the world. January is high season, so expect long lines at restaurants, although thats not so reflected at the pool and beach areas theyre so expansive you’ll be sure to find a secluded spot just for you. With the resort being so huge, that means lots of walking, so, ladies, leave the high heels at home. As for activities, there is so much to do, especially if you love water. You can swim with the dolphins or sea lions, or ride on a water slide through shark-infested waters the way Kristy and Sarah did with Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari and Maridu Mayrinck last year: Follow @PokerNews_Live to ensure you don’t miss a single update from our Live Reporting blog during our coverage the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. On Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, CBS aired the final table of the EPLs 8-Max Main Event, which drew a field of 97 players. The broadcast picked up with four-handed action. At that final table but not featured on the broadcast: Dutch Boyd (8th – $57,530), Sean Getzwiller (7th – $69,040), Isaac Baron (6th – $92,050), and Nam Le (5th – $126,570). Chips Counts at the Top of the Broadcast Place Player Chip Count 1st Fabrice Soulier 1,746,000 2nd David Steicke 1,375,000 3rd Erik Seidel 1,040,000 4th Michael McDonald 689,000 And Theyre Off: In the first hand, with blinds at 10,000/20,000, Erik Seidel raised to 50,000 under the gun holding and was called by David Steicke in the big blind holding . The flop gave Steicke a pair of sixes, but he checked to Seidel who bet 60,000 with the best hand. Steicke called, the spiked on the turn, and both players checked. The river saw Steicke lead out for 100,000 with his full house, which Seidel paid off. First blood to Steicke. Button Pressure: David Steicke looked down at on the button and raised to 60,000, which Erik Seidel three-bet to 150,000 from the small blind with . Steicke eyed up the Poker Hall of Famers stack before announcing that he was all-in, a huge over-raise to 1,042,000. To call would cost Seidel all of his chips, and he decided against it. Sick Soul Read: The EPL aired a segment that harkened back to its first broadcast and took a look at a notable hand where Erik Seidel called off his stack with on a board. Seidel, who made the right decision as he bested Chino Rheems , explained his thought process in the hand, giving viewers a brief glimpse into the mind of a poker great. Erik made a great call. He made like a sick soul read, thats why hes who he is, Rheem admitted in the feature. Four in the Window: Fabrice Soulier raised to 51,000 from the button, only to have Michael Timex McDonald move all-in from the small blind for 560,000. The big blind got out of the way and Soulier made the call. ShowdownSoulier: McDonald: It was a race situation, but not so much after the flop. McDonald had flopped a set and left Soulier drawing to runner-runner. The turn was of no consequence, aside from leaving Soulier drawing dead, and McDonald was guaranteed the double to 1,152,000. Hes too good, Soulier said as he counted his remaining chips. Too lucky, McDonald said with a smile. Seidel Eliminated in Fourth Place: A short-stacked Erik Seidel moved all-in from the button with only to have Soulier move all-in over the top from the small blind with . McDonald folded from the big blind and the man known as Seiborg was a 4-1 dog for his tournament life. With 812,000 in the pot, the flop fell , bringing Seidel one step closer to the door. The left him looking for a five, while the river sent him home in fourth place, worth $184,100. Soulier Shoves: With the blinds now at 12,000/24,000, Soulier opened from the button for 48,000 with , and watched as McDonald made it 144,000 to go from the small blind with the far superior . Steicke folded the big blind and Soulier stared at his opponent before moving all-in for 1,066,000. McDonald asked for a count before admitting, This is one of those hands where whatever I do Im gonna look dumb on the broadcast. The four-bet shove proved too much for McDonald, who slide his cards to the muck. Soulier Eliminated in Third Place: A little while later, with the blinds at 20,000/40,000, Soulier moved all-in from the small blind for his last 665,000. McDonald snap-called, and the cards were on their backs. ShowdownSoulier: McDonald: McDonald was a 70 percent favorite to win the hand and had the Frenchman on the ropes. The flop gave Soulier some chop outs to a nine, and the turn increased those outs to an ace, king, nine, or three on the river, not to mention a ten for the win. Unfortunately for Soulier, the blanked and he was eliminated in third place ($299,160). Heads-Up Play: Steicke began heads-up play as the chip leader with 2,835,000 to McDonalds 2,015,000. It was the Australian versus the Canadian, old versus young, for the latest EPL title. In the first hand between the pair, Steicke looked down at and raised to 90,000, which McDonald called with . The flop hit McDonald hard, but he checked to Steicke, who bet 150,000. McDonald made the call and then checked the turn. Steicke checked behind and took a free card on the river, which was the . McDonald played coy with a third check, but Steicke refused to bite. McDonald, who shook his head at the missed opportunity, rolled over his full house to collect to the 490,000 pot. I did have an out at the end, Steicke smiled as his opponent pulled even in chips. Off to the Races for an EPL Title: McDonald raised to 90,000 with and Steicke three-bet to 300,000 with . Both players held quality hands, and you just knew it was going to be a big pot. Sure enough, McDonald moved all-in for 1,965,000 and Steicke made the call. Just like that, there was 4.54 million in the pot. This is pretty much it, Steicke deadpanned. Sure enough, if Steicke won he would be an EPL champion, but if he lost hed be left with hardly anything. The flop made McDonald a 68 percent favorite, but the turn doubled Steickes outs. Either a ten, queen, king, or ace on the river would give Steicke the tournament, but it was not meant to be as the appeared. Suddenly it was the 21-year-old Canadian on the verge of an EPL title. Timexs Time: In the next broadcasted hand, Steicke moved all-in for 1,395,000 and was quickly called by McDonald. ShowdownSteicke: McDonald: McDonald was a 65 percent favorite and only five cards separate him from an EPL title. The flop brought him even closer, while the turn left Steicke in need of a king or deuce on the river. Unfortunately for the Aussie, the blanked and he finished in second place for $506,260. Meanwhile, McDonald became the EPL 8-Max Champion and earned himself a hefty $782,410 payday. It was a tough day. A lot of tough players at the table. Things just worked out really well for me today, McDonald said on the eve of his 22nd birthday in his post-victory interview. *Photo courtesy of Epic Poker League.

Second Wave of Indictments
by Adam Marshall | May 24th, 2011 The first wave of federal indictments that took PokerStars, FullTilt, and Absolute Poker out of the U.S. market was called Black Friday. This second wave targeting sites like Doyle’s Room and TruePoker is now being called Blue Monday. The indictments came from Maryland early yesterday targeting the following sites… DoylesRoom.com TruePoker.com BookMaker.com 2Betsdi.com Funtimebingo.com GoldenArchCasino.com BetMaker.com BetGrandeSports.com Betehorse.com Beted.com Doyle Brunson formally announced his separation from Doyle’s Room earlier this month due to the current legal turmoil surrounding online poker. Obviously, a hallmark of a great player is knowing exactly when to cash in your chips. The indictments were the result of undercover work done by the Department of Homeland Security. An undercover payment processing business was created called Linwood Payment Solutions, which connected agents with executives inside those gaming operations. The covert processor made around 300,000 transactions in the meantime while tracking financial data. Of note is the fact that some of these sites operated outside the legally murky arena of online poker and in the much-more-illegal field of sports betting. Charges included money laundering and conducting an illegal gambling business but not the previous accusations of bank fraud or violations of the UIGEA. Although this attack pales in comparison to the Black Friday indictments, to some they still represent a push against poker as a whole. Others believe these to be the initial parts of the staging phase that ultimately leads to the long overdue regulation of online poker. Last week, the start of Day 8 saw Anton Makiievskyi extend his chip lead as the field was reduced to the final 14 players. In the last two episodes before the Main Events exciting conclusion in Las Vegas, five more players will hit the rail and officially set the 2011 November Nine. Heres a look at the chip counts at the top of this weeks broadcast: Final 14 Chip Counts Place Player Chip Count 1st Anton Makiievskyi 32,820,000 2nd Eoghan ODea 26,415,000 3rd Pius Heinz 24,995,000 4th Phil Collins 18,870,000 5th John Hewitt 18,595,000 6th Ben Lamb 14,990,000 7th Martin Staszko 13,030,000 8th Badih Bounahra 10,915,000 9th Sam Holden 9,995,000 10th Matt Giannetti 9,725,000 11th Scott Schwalich 7,695,000 12th Bryan Devonshire 7,095,000 13th Khoa Nguyen 7,010,000 14th Kosta Mamaliadis 3,770,000 Lets Get It Started: With the blinds at 120,000/240,000 and a 30,000 ante, Ben Lamb opened for 525,000 holding and Badih Bounahra defended from the big blind with . The two were heads-up to the flop, which Bounahra checked. Lamb continuation-bet 650,000, Bounahra called, and the hit the turn. Again Bounahra checked, Lamb bet 1.2 million, and Bounahra called. The river gave Bounahra the flush he was looking for, but he checked to Lamb, who checked behind. Ahhhhhh, you didnt bet on this one? Bounahra asked as he slapped over his cards. Lamb gave his own hand a second look before tossing them to the muck, watching the 5,080,000 pot shipped to the elder statesman of the tournament. Giannettis Ladies Treat Him Right: Matt Giannetti raised to 525,000 from the button, holding queens, and was called by Anton Makiievskyi in the big blind holding . The chip leader checked the flop, opening the door for Giannetti to bet 650,000. Makiievskyi, who had flopped top pair, made the call and then checked the turn. Giannetti counted out some chips and single-handedly slid out a bet of 1,475,000. His Ukrainian opponent made the call and then checked for a third time on the river. Giannetti went for value with a 2.6 million bet on the river, and somewhat surprising, Makiievskyi laid down his hand. Schwalich Bounced: After being crippled when his failed to overcome the pocket tens of Bryan Devonshire, Scott Schwalich was all-in preflop for his last 570,000 with and at risk against the of Eoghan ODea. Schwalich only had a 28 percent chance of winning, which dropped to 14 percent on the flop. The turn left him looking for a jack on the river, but it was not meant to be as the peeled off. Schwalich was eliminated from the Main Event in 14th place, taking home $478,174 for his efforts. Like Father Like Son: After scoring the aforementioned knock out, a stat was shown showcasing the success of Eoghan ODeas father, Donnacha ODea: Donnacha ODea Main Event Cashes Year Place Payout 2007 171st $51,398 1996 25th $19,500 1994 27th $16,800 1991 9th $17,250 1990 32nd $7,500 1983 6th $43,200 Costly Mistake for Mamaliadis: Chip leader Eoghan ODea opened the pot for 625,000 and cleared the field to a short-stacked Kosta Mamaliadis on the button. The South African moved all-in for 4,020,000, and ODea made the call after the blinds got out of the way. ShowdownODea: Mamaliadis: Apparently picking the wrong time to make a move with his weak hand, Mamaliadis was promptly eliminated in 13th place after the board ran out . ODea extended his chip lead while Mamaliadis made his way to the payout desk to collect his $478,174. Interestingly, Mamaliadis explained to his friend Mars Callahan that he had accidentally looked down at the eight twice and mistook his hand for pocket eights, prompting the all-in shove. It was a costly mistake, but as Callahan pointed out, even the great Phil Ivey misread his hand in the Main Event, alluding to his mucked flush in the 2009 WSOP. Nguyen Doubles Through Devonshire: Action folded to Bryan Devonshire in the cutoff and he put in a raise to 700,000. Short-stacked Khoa Nguyen responded with a three-bet shove for 3.86 million from the button, which cleared out the blinds. Devonshire let out a sigh before making the call. ShowdownDevonshire: Nguyen: Nguyen was pleasantly surprised to discover he was a 57 percent favorite to win the hand with his ace high, which prevailed as the board ran out . Nguyen doubled on the hand to 8.41 million while Devonshire lost 48 percent of his stack and was left with just 12 big blinds. Devonshire Eliminated in 12th Place: Eoghan ODea opened for 650,000 and cleared the field all the way to Bryan Devonshire in the big blind. The short-stacked pro opted to move all-in for 3.5 million and ODea snap-called. ShowdownODea: Devonshire: ODea was in a dominating spot, leaving Devonshire in need of a minor miracle. The flop was not what he had in mind, while the turn left Devonshire looking for a king on the river. The railbirds were on their feet as the dealer burned and revealed the . Devonshire failed to improve and was ODeas third straight victim, finishing in 12th place for $607,882. In his post-elimination interview with Kara Scott, Devonshire talked about his enthusiastic rail: I enjoy having the rail just because its fun. I like my buddies being here and having a good time. I enjoy the support. A little bit of a hometown advantage when theyre cheering for you to win pots and not them. Nguyen Eliminated in 11th Place: Martin Staszko looked down at and opened for 675,000. Khoa Nguyen then made it 1.75 million to go with . Action folded back around to Staszko and he moved all-in, putting the pressure back on Nguyen, who called off for 7,745,000 total. Staszko was an 80 percent favorite in the hand and didnt need to sweat much as the board ran out . Nguyens elimination in 11th place ($607,882) saw the final ten players combine to one table, bringing us to the November Nine bubble. Giannetti Does Work: Matt Giannetti, the short stack at the start of ten-handed play, moved all-in for 5.5 million with and found a caller, John Hewitt in the big blind, who held the mediocre . The board ran out and Giannetti doubled to 11,750,000. A short time later, Pius Heinz opened for 1.1 million with and was three-bet to 3.1 million by Ben Lamb who held . Giannetti was on the button and four-bet shoved for 8,350,000, which influenced Badih Bounahra to lay down in the small blind. Heinz quickly got out the way and Lamb made a reluctant call. The flop wasnt much danger to Giannetti, but the turn did give Lamb a flush draw. Luckily for Giannetti, the harmless appeared on the river and he used jacks to double once again, this time to 19,050,000. The November Nine is Set: John Hewitt opened for 1.1 million with and was met with a three-bet shove to 9.3 million by Badih Bounahra, who held the dominating . Much to the surprise of the commentators and the rest of the table, Hewitt made the call. The room was silent as the board ran out , giving Bounahra the double to 19,850,000; meanwhile, Hewitt lost 70 percent of his stack and was left with just 4,125,000. In what would be the last hand before the November Nine hiatus, Eoghan ODea raised to 1,100,000, and Hewitt moved all-in from the big blind. ODea made the call, and it was off to the races. ShowdownODea: Hewitt: The flop did not hit ODea directly, but it did make him the favorite in the hand with two overs and an open-ended straight draw. The turn completed the flush and Hewitt was drawing dead. The meaningless was put out on the river as Hewitt shook hands with the table and made his exit in tenth place. November Nine Chip Counts Place Player Chip Count 1st Martin Staszko 40,175,000 2nd Eoghan ODea 33,925,000 3rd Matt Giannetti 24,750,000 4th Phil Collins 23,875,000 5th Ben Lamb 20,875,000 6th Badih Bounahra 19,700,000 7th Pius Heinz 16,425,000 8th Anton Makiievskyi 13,825,000 9th Sam Holden 12,375,000 To be Continued: On Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, the WSOP Main Event will play down to the final three players in Las Vegas; whats more, it will be aired from beginning to end on ESPN 2 and ESPN 3 beginning at 3:30 p.m. EST.
